Heading South 2018

We have cleaned, waxed, polished, And provisioned and are ready to head south. Our good friends, George and Pam brought us back to Morehead City and then headed back home. Now we start our journey south.

We left Morehead City Yacht Basin at 6:43 October 23, 2018. The ocean was good so we headed out the inlet and traveled outside to Wrightsville Beach. The ocean was not flat calm but we both said we’d take it. Shay said if it would stay like this, he would go to Europe.
Our last sunset in Morehead City for a while.
Full moon rising our last night in Morehead. Great moon for an overnighter.
Leaving MCYB
Heading out the inlet. Next stop Wrightsville Beach.
We had good conditions and got to Wrightsville Beach at 4:30. We had traveled almost 10 hours at 7.3kts and went a total of about 75nm. Great day outside.

Shay picked up Lauren, Chris and Joaquin at the dock and they came to visit .We stayed here several days because Lauren and I have things to do. She has picked a date and we have lots to do. Pick out an venue and "say yes to the dress". So we went dress shopping in Wilmington. She  found a few prospects. She also has two she ordered online that she likes. We took a trip to a huge bridal store a couple of hours from Wilmington and it was very disappointing. W both hoped we'd leaved with a dress, but not even one maybe. That's ok. We'll keep looking and she has several "maybes". She told the saleswoman she's not the kind of person to fall in love with the dress immediately.
Our guests arriving at Escape. They came to the boat several times, we ate together and had a good time.
We also went to a beautiful venue. It's a working horse farm and is beautiful outside and inside.
We left Wrightsville Beach on October 28 at about 7am and headed down the ICW. We had a beautiful day on the water. We saw lots of damage from hurricanes. Boats on shore, messed up docks, and damaged houses. We had lots of damage in Morehead City too.
Heading down Cape Fear River
Meeting a big cargo ship. Glad the waterway is very wide.
Strange addition to this house

Red Head sighting
Not many on the beach today. Even though it was a beautiful day.
Entering the "Rockpile". Dangerous area.
It's low tide now. But at high tide these are underwater. Must stay in the channel.

Lots of beautiful homes along the ICW near Myrtle Beach. Lots more houses since started this 8 years ago. I'd like to see an aerial view to see how much its grown.
We passed by some possible shallow spots today at Lockwood Folly and Shallotte but had no problems.

We got to Barefoot Marina in Myrtle Beach at 4:45. A long day. We traveled almost 10 hours, at an average speed of 6.3kts for about 61kts. We stopped here cause there are not any good anchorages between here and  Wrightsville Beach. We quickly washed the boat and went out to eat with our SeaSalt friends. We'll spend one night here then head farther south.
