Finishing up 2014 Marathon and Christmas

My last post stated we were going to spend Christmas back home. We are, but I thought I’d add a little more about our time in Marathon.
It's early in the season and there are still empty moorings.

You see all kinds of boats around here!
Folly coming into the mooring field.
We had a get together on our boat and invited Kokomo, Rolland and Leta, Folly, Stan and Judy, and Mekhaya, Ted. We had Shay’s grilled chicken a big salad, baked beans, and Caribbean rice. Stan and Judy brought appetizers and Leta brought cheesecake with cherries and whipped cream. It was a cool night but we were cozy in the salon. Ted brought his guitar, but we spent too much time talking and getting caught up with everyone. That gives us another reason to get together again!
Kokomo is planning on staying here thru the winter. Folly is heading toward the east coast sometime after Christmas. Mekhaya is heading back to the Bahamas when he gets some things done on the boat and a good weather window. Let’s enjoy our time together.
We had a great time at a jam session at the Tiki Hut. Of course, Ted played his guitar and sang and we always enjoy listening to him. Several boaters from the harbor took turns entertaining us. Eric from Willet played guitar and sang. Cory and Ty had arranged the session and they were great. They play at several of the local restaurants and are very professional.
We took Escape out on a Thursday Sail-away. No you don’t have to be a sailboat to go out.  We took the people that ate on the boat the other night. It was a beautiful day. The water was like a mirror, it was so calm. We rode up past Dockside then went thru the bridge and headed toward Sombrero Lighthouse. We just took a nice leisurely ride and everyone enjoyed it. Kokomo and Mekhaya are sailboats and  probably thought all powerboats go fast. We slowed down to about 6.5 kts, our norma cruising speed and showed them how slow we normally go. They decided we were like a sailboat, a slow sailboat.

We had a great time back home for Christmas. But, the cold weather was almost too much for us! Our blood is too thin for those cold temperatures now! We saw family and friends. Ate way too much yummy food.  And had a great time celebrating Christmas.
Of course, we had our usual appointments with doctors and decided we would not do this at Christmas anymore. It takes away from our family and friends time.

I was a very happy girl, since I got to spend several nights with daddy. Love our time together. My family had our Christmas on Christmas Eve. We all got together to eat, exchange gifts, and most important spend time together.

We all have so much to be thankful for! We are blessed! We have a great family and wonderful friends!
