Leaving Frederica and not sure where we will anchor..

We are sad since we are leaving part of our caravan behind today. Hope to see Southern Star again before they leave the States.
We tried to be quiet as we left the anchorage. Southern Star was awake and wished us safe travels. See ya!
We knew there we crab pots at the entrance to the anchorage since we saw them as we came in, but we couldn't see them this morning and heard a bump. I looked behind the boat and saw part of a float come up but not all. Shay slowed down and played around with the props and we saw more red buoy come to the top, se we think we threw the float off the props. We hope so. We had gotten close to them before but they usually just pop up behind the boat. It could have been worse, we could have wrapped it around the prop or stabilizer.

Pretty moon

Bridge heading into Brunswick,GA
Waterpark on Jekyll. Don't think it will be open today.

These pictures are from the Naval Submarine Base at Kings Bay. We were disappointed today because there were not any submarines there. The two last pictures are of the degaussing station. Used to demagnetize the subs.

As you can tell from the title, we are not quite sure how far we will go today. We usually know exactly where we will anchor but not today. We have several skinny areas and several places we can either get a push or pull from the current, so we will see how it goes. Jekyll Island is very shallow at or near low tide so we want to go thru there with as much water as we can.  St Simon Sound can be rough if the wind and current are opposing each other so we want to play that right.

Fort Clinch at the entrance of Fernandina

Fernandina is not a pretty place from the water. It looks like a horror amusement park.
Damage from Matthew

This boat was interesting. The green areas fold down to cover the storage area in the hull.
No boats moored because the moorings have not been inspected since Matthew. There are not many boats anchored here. Guess they are concerned about holding. The city marina is closed to transient boats. We can't even anchor and use the dinghy dock. Not good for Fernandina.

Pretty buildings, finally!

SeaSalt zooming thru Fernandina with a good push from the current. About 8kts.

More Matthew

We wonder why the boats are still grounded. Well, most of them are derelict boats and if they could find the owners they wouldn't want to spend the money to get them repaired and back in the water. And they are probably not insured. So they aren't worth much.

We made it thru Jekyll with no problems and St. Simon Sound too. We discussed stopping for the night at Cumberland Island but we were getting such a good push so we decided to keep going. The will put us going thru Fernandina with a high tide and that is another skinny area, so that works out in our favor. We started looking for an anchorage south of Fernandina, but couldn't find the depths we wanted, so we kept going.
We finally stopped in Nassau Sound and dropped anchor just off the ICW at 2:30. We had traveled 7.5 hours at 6.5kts and gone 49.24nm. Neither boat has anchored here before and we hope we'll have a good night.

No, we can't go out here, the bridge is too low.

Sorry no trip pictures today. I forgot to start it this morning.
