Traveling up the Florida Coast 2016- Part 1

We had a great time back in Vero. We spent time with Richard and Connie from Sea Salt. We had a great time catching up with them and making plans to travel together. Of course, we made several trips to Walmart, Sam's, and the mall so we could get more provisions. No, we didn't use all our Bahamas stuff, but we had things we wanted to get and so we did.

We were sitting on the boat on day and these strange things went by. Never seen anything like them before. Bumper boats for adults?
One of the things we talked about when we were in the Bahamas was what we wanted to eat when we got back. We talked about pizza, burgers, all you can eat ribs and salad bars. One of the first places we went was Sonny's Barbeque for their fantastic salad bar. We went with Richard and Connie and it was great.

We enjoyed meeting other cruisers at Vero and catching up with where they had been. Richard and Connie brought Sea Salt to the marina to stage for our trip north. Bill and Phyllis on Oh My were moored near us.

We had a great time in Vero, but its time to head back to North Carolina so we'd better get moving. All three boats left Vero on May 5th at 9 am. We are heading back to anchor at Dragon Point and have dinner plans with Richard and Connie's daughter, Yvette and her son Garrett.

Our last evening in Vero, for a while.
It must be nesting time. Lots of markers had nest and nesting going on.
We had a good day on got anchored about 2:30. We traveled 5.5 hours at 6.4kts and went about35nm. Oh My decided they would keep traveling so we said good bye for a while. We'll see you later!
Sad Dragon Point. But Yvette sent me an article that shows plans for a two-headed dragon to be built soon. They are also going to rebuild the house on the point. Hope they hurry up!

This house looks closer up for the season. But I thought it looked very modernistic.
The Castle.

Bridge opening to let us in. We had lots of dolphins beside the boat but we were busy anchoring. Of course, when I had time to get the camera, they were all gone. But at least we were welcomed back.
Anchored at Dragon Point
As you can see, its very populated.
Sea Salt anchored close by.

We had a great dinner with Yvette and Garrett. So sorry that Tim and Cameron had other plans. We went back to Doubles since we enjoyed it so much last fall. We shared the Havana salad with red cabbage, beans rice, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Good food and good visit then back to the boat to get ready for another day on the water.

We left for Cocoa at 8am and got there about 10:45. We traveled about16nm at 5.5kts in about 3hours. Another good day. We went to shore and did some sightseeing, walking shopping and of course, eating.
Hey FFF, look where we are!
Yes, Thai Thai. No, Eat Eat. Sorry

Our anchorage in Cocoa

You can see the waterfront park  and dingy dock here.
This is SF Travis Hardware store. It is said to be the largest hardware store on the east coast. It is big and full of all kinds of stuff.

We had another fun visit to Cocoa but will be heading out again tomorrow.
